A courtyard should fit its exposure, drainage and everyday use.
Use light and space thoughtfully
Choose suitable plants, modest furniture and a clear route through the area. Shade and privacy can be useful, but a darker courtyard is not automatically a pest danger. Investigate actual signs of pests or moisture rather than relying on appearance alone.
Check fixed work
Lighting, structures and attachments may need licensed installation and strata or landlord approval. Secure objects, keep drains clear and consider surface safety. A practical layout can improve use without assuming every design feature adds value.
