Guidance reviewed 3 October 2026.

Heat can affect the safety and workload of a move, so adjust the plan to the forecast and the people involved.

Reduce exposure

Discuss timing, shade and breaks with the movers and avoid heavy work in the hottest conditions where possible. Keep access to water and a cooler place, and follow relevant health advice for individual needs.

Protect people and belongings

Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Keep medicines and sensitive items according to their storage instructions. Reschedule if conditions make the move unsafe rather than relying on a universal meal or hydration prescription. NSW Health guidance provides a better starting point for extreme weather planning.
