Guidance reviewed 3 October 2026.

Paint choices should respond to the home and likely audience, not a universal list of colours that prevent sales.

Test the light

Try samples beside flooring and fittings at different times. Neutral shades can provide a flexible backdrop, but dark or bold colours are not automatically a problem. Surface condition and consistent workmanship matter too.

Keep the spending proportionate

Ask your agent whether repainting is likely to help this campaign and obtain a quote. Do not cover unresolved moisture or defects. Check permissions for rental or strata changes. Colour is one aspect of presentation and cannot promise a fast sale or higher price.
