Pets need a safe transition as well as a new address. Plan their transport and arrival before moving day.
Prepare the journey
Update identification and contact details, check suitable carriers or restraints and arrange any travel requirements. Ask a vet about health, anxiety or medication where needed; a vet appointment is not mandatory for every local move.
Settle gradually
Keep pets away from loading activity and give them a secure area at the destination. Check fencing, screens and access before allowing exploration. For rentals, arrange required pet consent; strata approval may be separate. Familiar bedding and routine may help, but adjustment varies between animals.
